In Davidson Town Council’s Strategic Plan, one of the values identified was transparency in municipal decision making, finances, and communication. Council’s Corner will focus on these strategic priorities as it relates to the Strategic Action Plan:
Engagement, Communications and Team Work
Council has approved the 2026 Operating and Capital Budget, a copy of which is on the Town website under “Public Notices”.
A Public Hearing was held regarding a proposed Zoning Bylaw Amendment to rezone the Lutheran Church property, enabling Community Planning to approve a subdivision application that would separate the residence from the church. As no concerns were raised during the hearing, Council approved the amendment. A copy of the amended bylaw is available on the Town’s website along with all other municipal bylaws.
Representatives from the Brightwater Riding Club made a presentation to Council, outlining their plans to upgrade the existing riding arena. Council expressed its support for the proposal and commended the group for its initiative and commitment to enhancing this community facility.
A Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day was held on June 12th to support our community in safely disposing of hazardous materials. The event was well attended, and we look forward to offering it annually.
Infrastructure
The Town purchased a triple axel dump trailer from Fast Toys for Boys for $22,016.
United Paving is contracted to repair and pave the remainder of Herman Crescent this year.
Repairs have been completed on the lagoon irrigation pivot. The pivot is an important component of the Town’s wastewater treatment system, as it distributes treated effluent onto the adjacent hay land in accordance with the Town’s operating permit requirements.
Recreation and Cultural Programs
The Town was successful in securing a $2,500 grant through the Affinity Credit Union Community Development Fund to assist with the purchase of a new score clock for the AGT Centre.
Council approved the proposal from Travis Brown to serve as the Curling Ice Technician for the 2026–27 season, ensuring continued quality ice conditions at the AGT Centre.
Thank you to the Davidson Days Committee for organizing another great community celebration, and to everyone who came out to support the event. Beautiful weather on Friday and Saturday helped make for an enjoyable weekend, although Sunday’s weather limited activities to indoor events only. Overall, Davidson Days was a tremendous success and a wonderful example of our community coming together.
Swimming lesson registrations are still being accepted online, at the Town Office, or at the Pool. Pool passes can be purchased at the Pool (cash or cheque only) or Town Office (cash/cheque/cards).
If you have questions or would like more information on any of these projects, please contact the Town Office.
