In Davidson Town Council’s Strategic Plan, one of the values identified was transparency in municipal decision making, finances, and communication. Council’s Corner will focus on these strategic priorities as it relates to the Strategic Action Plan:
Engagement, Communications and Team Work
The Town of Davidson has been approved for the Canada Summer Jobs Grant; double what we received in 2022. Summer staff are now all in place.
Loraas will deliver the new garbage carts in June. More specific details about the pickup schedule will be shared on Facebook, The Davidson Leader, Town website, and with the water bills.
Council passed first reading of a revised Garbage Bylaw to adopt new landfill rates and change the garbage fee from $5/month to $13/month. It is proposed that these new rates will come into effect July 1, 2023.
Infrastructure
The rubber curbs on Washington Avenue will be removed in the near future.
The Water Treatment Plant reservoirs were cleaned in early May. A robot was used so that the cleaning could be done without a service disruption.
The street sweeper has been repaired and once the air conditioner has been recharged, street cleaning will begin.
Please put only yard waste in the compost bins! NO TREES OR GARBAGE!
The new radar sign has arrived to replace the one damaged in the vehicle accident at the corner of Government Road and Railway Street.
Recreation and Cultural Programs
The tender responses for the addition to the AGT Centre have come in well above the engineer’s estimates that were submitted in the grant application. Council is considering options for the project.
Panther Pool will open June 5th. Registration for swimming lessons is currently open. Check out the Town website for more information or to register.
The Town Campground is now open.
