In Davidson Town Council’s Strategic Plan, one of the values identified was transparency in municipal decision making, finances, and communication. Council’s Corner will focus on these strategic priorities as it relates to the Strategic Action Plan:
Engagement, Communications and Team Work
Repairs and upgrades to our water infrastructure continue on an as needed basis. A water main was repaired on Third Street, a zone valve replaced at the corner of King Edward and McGregor, and a few curbstop repairs are planned for this fall.
The Town was successful in receiving a grant through the Targeted Sector Support Initiative for governance training following the November municipal election.
SUMA is offering free virtual sessions for any residents interested in learning more about being on municipal council. Check out the Town of Davidson or SUMA Facebook pages for information on registering.
Fall Friendship Night: Join us on October 16th to celebrate our community, meet your neighbors, welcome those new to our community and enjoy a free meal. Watch for more information!
Community Recognition Awards: Do you know a person, business or organization that deserves special recognition? Nominations for citizen of the year, youth citizen of the year, business of the year, and organization of the year open on September 16th. Nomination forms will be available at the Town Office, Library or by visiting the Town website. Winners will be announced at the Fall Friendship Night on October 30th.

Infrastructure
Council adopted a Sidewalk Inspection and Maintenance Policy at their August Council Meeting.
Council awarded the tender for the sewer lift station project (electrical and ventilation upgrades, backup generator) to Con-Tech General Contractors Ltd. for $290,400. Work will begin later this fall and continue into 2025.
Upgrades and repairs to the pivot are planned for this fall, including a new pump control box.
Virtue Construction will be returning later this fall for another round of street sweeping.
Recreation and Cultural Programs
Panther Pool is now closed after another successful season. The new shade structure will be built this fall. Pool stats:
5 lesson sets – 220 participants
16 private lessons
2 bronze level lifesaving courses – 14 participants who all passed
38 Swim passes purchased (32 family passes)
22 average afternoon attendance
2 Water polo clinics
14 rentals (school swims, birthday parties, team wind-ups)
5 BBQ’s raising $1,172 for pool amenities
1 National Drowning Prevention week featuring daily awareness activities
