In Davidson Town Council’s Strategic Plan, one of the values identified was transparency in municipal decision making, finances, and communication. Council’s Corner will focus on these strategic priorities as it relates to the Strategic Action Plan:
Engagement, Communications and Team Work
In support of the Davidson Child Care Committee’s fundraising efforts, Town Council recently donated a family pool pass to their upcoming Spring Online Auction. Be sure to follow their Facebook page for this event: Davidson Child Care Inc 2025 Spring Online Auction
Davidson Days 2025 is set for June 20-22nd. We are once again excited to host this event with our community partners. Without the support of the Davidson Child Care Inc., Skatepark Committee, SCC and DICA this event would not be possible. If you would like to get involved contact the Town office or one of our organizing partners.
The Mayor and Administrator participated in the virtual SUMA Summit on February 13th, where the keynote speaker Doug Griffiths touched on some key points from his book “13 Ways to Kill Your Community”.
Infrastructure
Council approved the proposal from Allnorth Consultants for $20,000 to provide engineering services to assist the Town in improving the drainage on King Edward and Third Street. Allnorth will be providing a functional drainage design and plans for redesigning the two streets for concrete curbs and gutters with the potential for an asphalted road surface in the future.
Council has put in place a new spring street sweeping contract with Virtue Street Sweepers. The Town will continue to investigate other street sweeping options for the future.
Council is reviewing video footage of our sewer mains in order to identify and set priorities for maintenance and upgrades for the coming year. Council continues to work towards getting all sewer mains in the Town camera-ed, gathering condition rating data for our Asset Management Plan.
The landfill remains temporarily closed and will resume regular hours this spring. Special arrangements can be made to access the landfill by contacting the Town Office. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Recreation and Cultural Programs
Orkan Pest Control has been coming to the AGT Centre on a bi-weekly basis, and there has been no signs of any pest activity.
Hockey playoff season (league and provincials) is well underway at the AGT Centre; be sure to check the Town’s website for the rink schedule. Good luck to all our local teams.
The Town is still accepting applications for summer employment. Contact Dave at 306-567-2908 or visit the Town Facebook page for more information.
If you have questions or would like more information on any of these projects, please contact the Town Office.
