In Davidson Town Council’s Strategic Plan, one of the values identified was transparency in municipal decision making, finances, and communication. Council’s Corner will focus on these strategic priorities as it relates to the Strategic Action Plan:
Engagement, Communications and Team Work
Council met with representatives from SHA and local RMs to discuss physician recruitment and retention. Discussions are ongoing.
We are pleased to welcome Cynthia Gutwein as our new Landfill Attendant and Kevin Hepburn as our incoming Operations Manager, effective May 12th.
Mayor LePoudre and Administrator Jess attended the SUMA Convention, where they had an opportunity to meet with government officials and discuss key Saskatchewan issues including the environment, infrastructure, physician shortages, and economic development. They also connected with engineers, contractors, and suppliers.
Council continues to work with our Fire Department to optimize our firefighting capabilities.
We’re fortunate to have Sask Housing facilities in our community, but local board members are needed. If you’re interested in joining the board, please visit the Town Office.
The Town Office will be closed to the public on Tuesdays throughout May, as well as from May 5–7. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Infrastructure
Council approved MPE’s proposal for an engineering review of Enterprise Lane and is continuing negotiations with Highways on the project.
Council is exploring options for sewer line rehabilitation.
Virtue Construction has again been contracted for spring street sweeping, which is scheduled for May 29 and 30.
Economic Development
Keep an eye out for our upcoming Quality of Life Survey—your feedback will help shape our strategic plan and guide future economic development.
Recreation and Cultural Programs
The Town has purchased new tables for the rink, a great addition that complements the new chairs acquired last year.
Panther Pool opens Monday, June 2nd. Online swim lesson registration is now open by visiting townofdavidson.com, or in person at the Town Office.
Davidson Days returns June 20-22. The fireworks – brought to you by Western Sales and Vaderstad, parade, slo-pitch tournament, Saturday night cabaret, beer gardens, food trucks, indoor market, kid’s activities, fun run, yoga in the park and pancake breakfast will all be back this year. New attractions include two Super Ron magic shows, a fire prevention public education trailer that will be open Saturday afternoon next to the school and on Friday night a Cricket skills competition – “Hit, Bowl and Win – Cricket Fun” hosted by our Davidson Avengers cricket team. Come out and join us in celebrating our community together!
If you have questions or would like more information on any of these projects, please contact the Town Office.
