In Davidson Town Council’s Strategic Plan, one of the values identified was transparency in municipal decision making, finances, and communication. Council’s Corner will focus on these strategic priorities as it relates to the Strategic Action Plan:
Engagement, Communications and Team Work
The Town was honoured to receive funds from the Albert Johnson Estate, with contributions specifically directed to the Communiplex Reserve, Cemetery Reserve, and Swimming Pool Reserve. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Johnson for his generosity in supporting these community spaces.
The Town remains committed to supporting the Davidson Library, contributing funding to ensure it can maintain its operating hours.
Council is continuing to build the 2025–2029 Strategic Plan and Implementation Plan—built on the ideas and insights our community shared through this year’s Quality of Life survey.
Looking to build? Two Town-owned residential lots—1102/1104 Railway Street and 307 Ottawa Street—are now for sale. Contact the Town Office for details.
Infrastructure
The Town is currently carrying out its annual tree trimming and removal program to ensure the health and safety of our trees and streets.
Public Works staff have the sander ready, and the new snow gate is being installed on the grader as we await the season’s first snowfall.
Our water meter replacement program has resumed as time allows. If your property is one where we are unable to obtain a meter reading, the Town Office will contact you to schedule an appointment for your meter replacement. Please ensure that your indoor shut-off valve is operational and that access to your water meter is clear.
Recreation and Cultural Programs
Be a Secret Santa! Spread the joy of the season by helping local families in need. This holiday, Town Staff are collecting gifts for children up to 18 years old. Please bring unwrapped new gifts, gift cards, or cash donations (which will be used to purchase gifts) to Davidson Town Hall by December 11th.
The Davidson Inter-Church Association (DICA) is asking for monetary donations towards their “Christmas Gift Card Project” to help those in need. Contact Jeannine McNabb at 306-561-7050 for further information, to make a donation, or if you are in need. Donations to this project can also be made through any local Church in the community.
Join us for the Christmas Parade on Thursday, December 18th at 7 p.m.! Decorate your vehicle, bike, trailer, or yourself and help spread holiday cheer through the streets of Davidson. Call or email the Town Office to register your float today!
The AGT Centre is busy with hockey, curling and public skating. Public skating passes are available at the Town Office: $111 for a family pass; $55.50 for a single pass; or $2 for drop-in. There is also a drop box just outside the office at the rink. To view the weekly rink schedule, visit the Town website (townofdavidson.com)
If you have questions or would like more information on any of these projects, please contact the Town Office.
